PON Optical Distribution Network (ODN) Classes

ODN classes define expected optical loss ranges for GPON/XGS-PON networks. The test set applies threshold levels automatically based on the selected ODN class in the OPM Setup screen. This ensures consistent evaluation without manual input.

Factors affecting thresholds include:

  • Measurement location (central office, splitter, customer drop).

  • PON type (GPON vs. XGS-PON).

  • ODN class (A, B, C, etc., as defined by ITU-T standards).

Results are displayed as PASS/FAIL according to the correct optical level thresholds. Technicians can trust the analyzer to align with industry standards or operator-defined limits.
